Boating & Vehicles

The SDSU Boating Program provides training, logistics and support for faculty, staff, and student researchers at SDSU. All boating policies and procedures are based on the boating standards set forth by the California Division of Boating and Waterways. All research projects that require use of boats and/or trailers under the auspices of SDSU must be qualified and authorized according to the SDSU standards. Authorization to drive and trailer boats is issued by the Diving and Boating Safety Officer after a training and safety course, followed by a field check out.

For more information about the boating safety education, visit: California Division of Boating and Waterways.

For use of CMIL vehicles, users must follow the same rules and regulations as set forth by SDSU Police Department. Users must 1) posses a valid driver’s license,  2) maintain a good and safe driving record, and 3) must submit the necessary forms to Parking and Support Services. This includes a DMV background check, as well as completion of a Defensive Driving online course.

For more information about SDSU vehicles use, contact the Biology Department Administrative Support Assistant.

CMIL offers several boats for general use located both on the premises for trailering, or conveniently docked at Sea World Marina, located less than 5 miles away. In addition, CMIL has two field vehicles available for use. To reserve boats and/or vehicles for use, use the SDSU CMIL TeamUp Calendar. Contact our DSO/BSO, Mike Anghera, or Lab Manager, Renee Angwin for log in information.
